Would you benefit from clearer thoughts, less
tension, clearer sinuses or more overall energy?
Maybe you would like to take care of a problem such
as headaches, migraines, exhaustion, jaw pain, neck
pain or low back pain. Whether you want to
enhance your wellbeing or take care of a health
problem, Craniosacral Therapy can probably help.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle hands-
on technique used to correct imbalances in the body,
specifically the cranium and pelvis. Light touch, no
more than a few grams of pressure, is used to detect
and balance the rhythm and flow of cerebrospinal
fluid which bathes the brain and spinal cord.
The cerebrospinal fluid moves at a very specific
rhythm influenced by the breath and the heart. This
rhythm is associated with a subtle expansion and
contraction of the bones in the skull and the pelvis.
Injuries to the head, spine or pelvis can disrupt this
rhythm and result in dysfunction and disease.
A CST practitioner will feel for your rhythm by gently
touching your body and then using gentle rocking or
light pressure to restore balance.
A CST session takes place in a quiet environment.
The client lies fully clothed on a massage table while
the practitioner works at the head, torso or feet
during evaluation and treatment. The practitioner’s
hands are laid on the client to assess and apply
correction to the craniosacral rhythm.
Experiences during a CST session are personal and
unique to each person. Some clients report feeling
heat, cold or tingling while others just feel very
relaxed. It is common for clients to remember
situations and injuries during a session. Emotions
can arise as clients become aware of motions and
sensations within their bodies.
Craniosacral Therapy releases restrictions in the
cranium and pelvis, enhancing the craniosacral
rhythm. Cerebrospinal fluid flow is normalized within
the cranium and the spine giving the body greater
access to its natural healing abilities.
