School can be a stressful time for the body as we move from a more relaxed summer to the regimented expectations of the school system. Students have to take care to watch out for their physical health as carrying books and sitting in less
than optimal seating can cause considerable muscular pain.
Several methods can be used to reduce the amount of trauma that a student will have to endure such as using their locker rather than hauling text books around from class to class, drinking lots of water during the day in order to provide optimal hydration, and exercising their postural muscles in order to minimize muscle strains. Proper self care can significantly minimize any aches and pains a student can suffer. It is important that when a problem does arise though that care is sought as soon as possible before a minor issue becomes a major problem as muscle imbalances and strains left untreated can lead to more severe problems in the future.
Massage can be an effective way of helping the body take care of these aches and pains and release stress at the same time. A massage therapist is a trained professional who specializes in the care of the muscles and joints of the body and is able to treat a variety of health problems that a student will encounter.
