We’ve all been at points in our lives where we’ve
made sweeping generalizations like “I have nothing”
or “I have accomplished nothing”. As much as we
feel this is the case, it is never true. At times like
these, it is important to take an inventory of what
we have and what we have accomplished
Usually in these times we are measuring ourselves
by someone else’s yardstick. We are using the
values of someone else or of society. These values
however, rarely reflect our own. For this reason it is
critical that we know what is really important to us
and then use these values to assess our situations.
I was at a seminar once where John DiMartini, a
chiropractor and a powerful motivational speaker
said, “The hierarchy of your values dictates your
success.” He said that if you truly look at what is
most important to you, you will find that you are
striving to be successful and most commonly are
succeeding with regards to your top two values.
Unfortunately, society tends to value money and
power over everything else and we measure
ourselves against this. What if your values happen
to be family, health, freedom, creativity,
humanitarianism or something else? No doubt, the
bulk of your energy would be devoted to achieving
this so that your being would feel fulfilled.
Most people do not fit the mold that has been
constructed by our society. Yet we strive so
fervently to fit in. It is critical that you assess your
top values in order to see that you are successful
and that you are accomplished and worth
something.
Our values are the things that drive us to do what
we do. They are what make us feel most fulfilled
when we are working to achieve success. Knowing
what makes you tick is the key to understanding that
you re successful regardless of other people’s rules.
So take an inventory of what you have done. What
you have accomplished. What you are most proud
of. What you do have. What would you still have if
you lost everything. What can no one take away
from you. These are the things that are most
important. They lead you to your values.
Network entrainments are really great for showing
you what is truly important to you. They make you
aware of the stress in your body and the cause of
it. Trying to live up to someone else’s values or play
by society’s rules creates stress. This creates
tension in the body and causes pain, anxiety and
disease.
Learning how to rid your body of tension involves a
lot of awareness of the causes of our stress. When
we find that our thoughts and actions are creating
our discomfort, we change them. People under
Network care find that their bodies guide them
towards satisfaction and fulfillment. They find it next
to impossible to keep doing things that do not feed
their top values.
So start right now. Get out pen and paper and write
down the things you are most proud of. Figure out
what makes you most happy and look at ways to do
it more. Celebrate the fact that you have your own
values and that they differ from the ones popularized
by society. Take a personal inventory and see that
you have more than you could ask for and that your
success abounds.
